P A C T – Wolverhampton Patient Advisory Cancer Team

What is PACT?

  • Patients & Carers working together with Health Care Professionals to bring about improvements to the cancer services of Wolverhampton.
  • We are members of the Greater Midlands Cancer User Partnership ( Staffordshire, Shropshire & Powis, Dudley, Wyre Forest and Wolverhampton)
  • We are a fully inclusive group Currently funded by the GMCN

  • Provided a variety of speakers to inform patients
  • Campaigned for Psychology service at New Cross
  • Involved in the Palliative care pathway
  • Commissioned a research project on how cancer gets reffered in Primary Care
  • On going survey & evaluation of Cancer Patients
  • Increased the patient visibility profile

  • Assisted & improved many clinical pathways

Key Objectives for the future

  • Be involved in the new NHS
  • All Site Specific Groups to create a ‘continuing care package’ for patients
  • Continue to examine the cancer pathways
  • Continue to monitor the patient cancer survey at new Cross to bring about improvement requested by patients
  • Examine the complaints system
  • Recruit new members & ensure continued funding for Wolverhampton PACT
